I am a dog owner…

We're sure you’re a responsible dog owner who picks up after your dog. Unfortunately not all dog owners are and if you're as frustrated as us that dog mess is causing a nuisance where you live, please join our campaign to tackle it. Not only is it unpleasant for people wanting to swim and paddle to find dog mess in the sea, but the bacteria can cause the sea water to fail water testing. We'd really like your help to stop that from happening! Please follow the simple tips here and let us know if there are other ways we can stop dog mess ending up in the sea. You don't have to live by the sea to make a difference!

Always pick up your dog's mess and put it in the bin - any bin will do!

Carry extra dog poo bags with you to give to other owners who might need one.

Observe dog exclusion zones, especially between May and September.

Never bury dog poo in the sand thinking it will harmlessly wash away. It won’t.

Report people you see not picking up after their dog poo to the local council.

More information about what I can do

Beaches are beautiful places for people and dogs to enjoy. We don’t want to stop that. But we’re campaigning to improve the quality of our beaches and seas in the North West. Dog poo on the beach and in the water affects water quality. If left on pavements inland it can also be washed into the sea during heavy rain. So please join us in being responsible dog owners and helping others to see why we all want to be proud of our beaches.
